ASC 05 23-101 - Advance Directives and Elder Abuse: Annual Regulatory Training

 

This course will provide ambulatory surgery center staff members with basic information regarding advance directives and elder abuse. In addition, the course will describe the relevance of each topic with regard to regulatory compliance within the ASC. This course will provide an overview of issues facing the elderly with specific information about advance directives requirements and staff reporting obligations in cases of elder abuse. Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:

  1. Discuss the different types of Advance Directives and regulatory requirements within an ambulatory surgery center (ASC).

  2. Understand the requirements for documentation, patient education, and staff training regarding advance directives.

  3. Be familiar with the various types of elder abuse as well as the reporting and regulatory requirements related to elder abuse.

  4. Identify signs and symptoms of elder abuse.
