Upon completing this course, the student should be able to:
- Understand the importance of following strict cleaning and sterilization procedures to ensure patient safety in the ASC setting.
- Identify different types of sterilization classifications and options.
- Outline steps for the proper handling of instruments throughout the cleaning and sterilization process.
- Recognize OR items that require cleaning versus those that are considered sterile and need special care and handling.
- Describe steps for preparing equipment and instruments for ophthalmic surgery.
