This course is designed to educate nurses, allied health personnel, and general staff about the anatomy and functions of the components of the human eye. Anatomical eye terminology defined in this course is used throughout the eye care practice and ambulatory surgery center. With a better understanding of eye terminology and basic eye anatomy and function, staff will be able to communicate more effectively as a team to provide coordinated care for patients.
This course reviews basic eye anatomy and function terminology to enable effective communication among teams to provide coordinated care for patients in ophthamlic settings.
Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:
- List the major anatomical components of the eye.
- Describe the function of the different parts of the eye.
- Differentiate internal and external components of the eye.
- Recognize functional integration of the major components of the eye.
- Recognize and understand eye terminology used in patient interactions and documentation.
